The Rug of your DreamsFinding the rug of your dreams can be a tedious process. With the number of options out there, if you do not know what you are looking for it can be challenging. At YRugs MoreHome.com we want to simplify that process for you, giving you various search option to help you find the perfect rug. When beginning the search for a new rug there are three main points that you will want to keep in mind:
Style / ColorWhen decorating your house it is suggested that you start form the ground up, however at YRugs MoreHome.com, we know that often times the rug is generally the last piece of the puzzle, or even more often a later addition. This being said you will generally have an idea of the style that you are after. We have taken some of the guess work out of this by separating all of our rugs into 13 different styles that you can search from. In addition to our search by style, you can also search by color, allowing you to view just the rugs that will coordinate with your color scheme. Size / ShapeWhile most rugs come in a wide range of sizes, it is still important to know what size will work the best for your area. While this is not a science there are some trusted guidelines. Please see the ‘Selecting the Proper Size’ for more information. Specialty shaped rugs, in squares, circles, and octagons can add a unique flair to a small room, or a cozy nook. By having an idea of the size that will best fit your specific needs will ensure you do not purchase a rug that is either too big or too small and will save you the cost and time of a return. PriceRug prices vary greatly, to help determine the type of rug that will best fit your needs we suggest determining a price range early in the search This will be a good indicator of the type of rug that you will want to look at,; hand madehandmade rugs are normally higher in price while machine made rugs are more moderately priced. Rug TypesHand Knotted RugsHand knotted rugs are knotted, or tied by hand by craftspeople usually in Iran, Turkey, Romania, Caucus, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Tibet, and China, however the art of hand knotting rugs has grown in Europe, North Africa, and the United States. Using the ancient art form these hand madehandmade rugs can take up to a year to create. The process starts with the design, drawn out in color on graph paper. Then the artisans will then stretch warp threads onto a loom and knot the pile onto these threads. Once the entire rug is knotted the pile is then shorn. The number of knots per inch as well as the details of the rug will determine the quality and durability. High end rugs could have up to 1,000 knots per square inch; this will also be reflected in the price of the rug. Due to the nature of handmade rugs there can be slight variations; these are desirable, as it adds to the uniqueness of each rug. Hand Tufted RugsHand tufted rugs are created when artisans push yarns through canvas backing using a tufting instrument. Once the design is complete glue will be applied to the backing to lock in the yarns. The rug will then be shorn to create the pile. Hand tufted rugs are very dense and heavy Depending on the intricacy of the design a hand tufted rug can still take months to create. While still highly valuable due to the care and hand crafting needed to create a tufted rug, they would be considered a small step down from the hand knotted rugs. Hooked RugsHooked rugs are woven using a hand hook, which looks very similar to a crochet hook. The yarn is hooked through the backing creating the design in looped yarns. Hooked rugs are often backed with latex to lock in the yarns. Braided RugsBraided rugs start by braiding yarn or fabric together into a continuous rope. The braids can be made using a variety of different fabrics, and can also be braided in different ways. Braided rugs are uniquely American and will stand up to high traffic areas well. Machine Made RugsThese rugs are produced using an automated loom, creating multiple rugs with the same patterns and sizes quickly. Machine made rugs are generally made from polypropylene, nylon, acrylic, and or wool. These rugs offer a less expensive alternative to handmade rugs. Reasons To Shop at Morehome.com
