The entire line is fashioned to enhance the home and embrace a variety of lifestyles. These quality product designs bestow timeless value that never goes out of style. Atlantic Furniture is proud to manufacture all of its products using Ecofriendly plantation hardwood. Most of our furniture production uses timber from the Para rubber tree commonly known as Rubberwood or Hevea. We also make use of plantation grown Mahogany, White Birch and Italian Poplar. Utilizing these trees is both economical and environmentally responsible. The rubber trees are grown in large plantations all over South East Asia and harvested by hand at the end of their useful life. After the trees are felled and processed into timber the stump of the tree is dug up and new seedlings are planted in the same spot. In the past, felled rubber trees were either burnt on the spot or used as fuel for locomotive engines, brick firing or latex curing. The timber is now used in the manufacture of high quality furniture and valued for its dense grain, stability, and attractive color. The timber has the exceptionally advantageous qualities of being able to accept many different finishes and outstanding strength. It is also prized as an “environmentally friendly” wood, since it makes use of trees that have been planted to produce latex the raw material used to produce a multitude of other products. Fabrication of our entire product line employs Atlantics exclusive high build, five step finishing process. This time consuming process ensures a luxurious finish of remarkable beauty that will provide years of satisfied use. The finishing process begins with a thorough sanding of each and every component, followed by the application of a wipe on filler to microscopically seal the wood pores. Once the filler has thoroughly dried, a wood stain is applied to even the grain and prepare the color of the wood. The process of building the protective coating is initiated using a lightly tinted primary sealer which is absorbed into the uppermost surface of the wood. After curing the first sealer fine abrasive polishing is performed prior to the application of a secondary sealer which produces a uniform wood tone and perfects the substrate before a final topcoat is applied.
